Hello again,
Sorry there's a little gap there 😊 We got here OK and are in the middle of getting comfortable with our new jobs and meeting all the locals. It is very beautiful here, hard to compare with Waterton but the awe is the same. I don't think I'll ever get tired of the scenary. We are both very very happy, definately enjoying ourselves. It does rain a lot here and it's pretty much been raining since we got here, although yesterday and today seem to be showing more hope of blue skies.
Our last two nights in Glasgow were great, didn't do a whole lot, but the hostel was very comfortable. Euro hostel is probably the best one we've been in so far, like a hotel with all it's amenities, but cheaper. We found a wonderful italian restaurant not far from our room called, Est Est Est, very very good food and great staff (ate there both nights) and the manager gave me a 20% off card for the next time we're in town 😊 Everyone is friendly here, even in the big cities, always curious about where we are from and where we are going. We went to
a great club show with DJ Grand Master Flash (he is an original DJ from the 80's with Run RMC and such). We had a great time and got our pics on the clubs site.
The train from Glasgow to Oban was the best trip with the most beautiful scenary yet (we'll probably be taking the train a lot in the highlands). We arrived in Oban running for the ferry to the island. The ferry took about 45 mins, pints served to keep everyone comfortable 😉 Our new boss Nick picked us up in Craignure when we got off the ferry (started to rain when we got on the ferry). The islande is quite remote and the only road is a single lane, very much like a rally car track only with people coming the other direction as well. Glad I'm not driving as it takes a lot of skill on the roads here, knowing when to pass and so on. Nick and Debs are fabulous! We are staying in the caravan just beside the hotel, it's quite big actually. About the same size as our appartment in Calgary, so we're very happy. They put some food in the fridge
Spotlight Dave & Sarah
new friends for the night Angela & Jen for us to start off with and even fresh flowers to welcome us. It is definately a big family and it's important to get to know everyone because they know us! We've already spent almost every night in the pub (Bear's Pit) meeting the locals who come in almost every night for a pint and a scotch. Great characters, generous with the drinks and constant with the stories and teasing.
This is really long so I'll finish up and stop back soon with our mobile # (which is touch and go to reach us since the service is iffy here) e-mail would be the best option. Can't wait to hear from everyone and I'm organizing the pic gallary as we speak so it will be posted soon.
Lotsa love
