I really did have an amazing time over there in Northern Ireland, and although I only initially intended to write one Travel Blog entry upon my return, I have decided that in order to be able t... Craic Blog!
I’ve been wanting to visit Northern Ireland for a long time. I find the murals extremely fascinating, so thanks for posting a few. I have wondered where the troubles are nowadays and what the general vibe is like in Londonderry and Belfast. So thanks for the insight. I’m way too far off to join a travelers century club, but good on ya. That’s quite a feat!

Craic!
Thanks Andrea! My visit to Northern Ireland was well worth it, and I do recommend a visit there. Indeed, I felt the memory of the Troubles were still rumbling along there under the surface somewhere - hopefully the country and communities will be able to move on. I also visited Derry-Londonderry, so will be writing up about that visit at some point hopefully soon. Look forward to reading about your travels in the Maldives :D

Very interesting and educational read
I felt I learned a lot of new things when reading your blog, I had no idea that there was and still is a wall through Belfast and after reading your blog I feel like going to Northern Ireland to witness this myself.

Thank you my friend - indeed, I felt there was much to learn in Belfast. And I too did not know that there is still a wall running through West Belfast... I highly recommend a visit to Northern Ireland, it is really a beautiful and impressive country, as well as educational.

Thanks for sharing your reaction to the Troubles...
I have family living in Northern Ireland and during our visits saw some of the division which I had hoped had gone away.

Indeed, let us hope for a future of peace and reconciliation in the beautiful country of Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland
We really enjoyed this location. Happy 40th celebration... an entire year is a great idea. We were in Belfast for St. Patrick's day and it was fun and interesting. We also we to a Catholic mass in Gaelic. We found the history lesson we got when we took the Black Cab tour which was fascinating. We gained a lot of knowledge we didn't get in the American press. However, we were much younger then so it is possible we weren't paying as much to that news back in the day. Love that view from your B&B. Nice. Eagerly awaiting more.

Thank you! Sounds like you both had a good time in the country also. Indeed, there is much to learn about the country, and as always, to my mind, the best way is to see things with one's own eyes. Thank you for your very kind comment :)
