Well, it's about 5 in the morning. And I am wide awake. I didn't sleep on the plane. But I watched some fantastic movies! District 9 - excellent, even if you're not into aliens. And, 'It Might Get Loud'. The flight was pretty smooth all around. Sarah and I had good luck as well with our first navigation through the underground, and our finding our apartment. We found a grocery store and bought a couple little pizzas for supper. Also found some eggs for the morning, although that took a little while because I didn't realize that eggs were stored on the shelves as opposed to the chilled section. We're on a street that can only be described as... white. If you search 'Iverness Terrace W2' in London on Google maps there is an image of it. i can't emphasize enough how cool it is to find images of a street I'm visiting on another continent, and then walk into my memories after departing from the tube.
We came across a movie being shot. I don't know who the star was, but unofficial security wouldn't let us get close enough to see what was going on. What I could see
was a gigantic light - it looked like a bed sheet that might have covered 5 meters squared, and then propped on its side to illuminate the walkway. We discovered our first super old church. I have a feeling we're going to see more 😊 We popped our heads inside but only briefly because the priest was having communion and we didn't want to be intrusive. It was interesting to watch from afar though. A giant cathedral in downtown London. A service to which the public was more than welcome. But the cathedral was entirely empty except for this priest.Nevertheless, the service went on.
We saw what might have been the closest parking job either of us have seen. Not much to say on that. It was just REALLY close. There was a quick debate as to whether or not the parker of the car might have grazed the neighbouring car. We're not sure. We went for a pint at a pub. It came to 7 pounds for them both, which I have to say I was rather impressed with. So was Sarah. We've been anticipating really high prices, but everywhere we've looked has thus far been very reasonable.
Anyway... I ordered 'a couple pints' for us both. The bartender gave me asked, 'A couple as in two?" and then put up two fingers. I'm not sure if he thought I was ordering 'a couple pints' for myself, or if he was just politely confirming what I meant by 'a couple'. In any case, I took the change and then left a couple pounds for him as a tip on the bar. He didn't notice, but the man behind me did and he stood there staring at the coin with a perplexed look on his face. I don't think I was supposed to do that. I'll ask next time before I leave 2 pounds on the bar. After our drinks we went back and crashed heavy. I slept 8 hours, but that still has left me waking up early as we went to bed at 8 pm. today... eggs with fried bread for breakfast. Then we're off to search for schools to tour - and museums!
I'm sure Sarah will be posting soon 😊

TIPS!
Hey! So glad you guys made it safe! I love that you have already seen cool things....movie being filmed whaaaat?! Sam says to make sure that you don't tip in pubs. Apparently it's actually insulting since no one does it and you're implying that bartenders need the money. You can tip in some restaurants, but only restaurants. Weird. Have fun getting over the jet lag! At least there should be lots of late night places open in London. Fun! Love to you both! Jenn
