24km - Keld to Marrick via Keeth -
After poaches eggs and tea, we say our goodbyes to Margaret and hit the road again. There is a choice of routes to Keld, either through the ruins of the lead mines that once flourished here or along the river Swale. It is slightly longer, but a spectacular display of flowers and meadows, barns and stone bridges. We reach Keeth early afternoon, with plenty of time to go to the Coop to buy some more supplies, biscuits, cheese, tomatoes, bread and fruits. I spot an advert about a farm that offers camping for only £2... and hot chocolate, now that keeps us moving and we tackle the extra 3 miles, but only to find the place closed and to have to walk back to Marrick. Marrick count sonly 60 inhabitants and no pub or shop of any kind, but we pitch our tent behind the Lodge and even get a cup of tea and a hot shower thrown into the deal! We have a little feast with all the food bought in Reeth and an early night sleep, as it starts raining again.
