Lucinda Burfield Went for a drive with my two aunties Linda and Janette to take my cousin Alex back to Uni in Leicester, which is about 2 1/2 hours north west of London.
On the way back we decided to travel via Stratford Upon Avon. Which is where Shakespeare was born. We went to see his cottage which was beautiful with nice gardens and window boxes. We missed him... by about 400 years, but did find him just up the road in the cemetery 😊
There was a river running through the town and you could hire row boats that were named after all the women in Shakespear's plays.
We also stopped to see Anne Hathaway's (as in Shakespear's wife from the 1500's, not the devil wears prada) cottage, also thatched with nice gardens, but she was having renovations to her roof... more straw 😊
On the drive home we avoided the motorway and went through hundreds of beautiful little towns with small pubs and houses. Another nice day in the English countryside.
