[youtube=ojEfyyoV2nI]Mark and friends decided to go check out Hadrian's wall and the coast at Tynemouth. Hadrian's wall was just ok. If we go again, we'll just do the "free route" since the actual wall is right off the street with an unlocked gate. Mark says Homestead has more of the actual wall pieces so we might check that out for next time. Kaitlyn was good at making her own entertainment by having a live battle in the gift shop with one of Mark's coworkers. Not so sure security liked that idea though. 😞

We found an awesome pizza place right near the coast that was pretty inexpensive and pretty good tasting at the same time. After that, we made the trek along the coast seeing some pretty impressive sights. Kaitlyn even dipped her toes in the water. We are going to go back just the two of us and walk the full 10 miles to the coast, picnic, and then grab the metro back home. That should make for a great Saturday. We bought new walking shoes and a backpack while we were here so we might as well put them to good use.

Kaitlyn decided to start climbing Hadrian's wall. That's about as far as she got!

Mark was not happy as his wife decided he should play dress up as a Roman... He looks more like a depressed Italian painter

Kaitlyn and Pete decided to have a battle.

Pete got scared. This was also the picture just before security asked us "Who is in charge of your group?" - Our group ranged from 26-37 years in age. Maturity age might be a different story.

Our shipment comes this Friday and Kaitlyn tells me we are getting our picnic basket, Subway, and a bottle of wine and coming back for a picnic!

Forget about a picnic...
You were 1/2 a block away from Marshalls. The best fish and chips you'll find anywhere. As one person put it, "if the fish were any fresher, it would be flopping around on your plate."

ps...it's Housesteads, not Homestead.
....and you really must see it. The entire countryside is beautiful. The Roman fort there is the best ruins we saw. Make a day of it, and continue to the Lake District. Go see Glenridding, on Ullswater lake. Spectacular!!! You've got lots to see and do, enjoy.
