Okay, so most of you know that we were supposed to leave on the 21st of April to travel to India. But some of you will also now know that within 48 hours of the end of our wedding Tanuja had fallen ill, seen a doctor, been booked in for an operation, had the operation, come round, spent the night in hospital and been discharged. It was all a bit of a shock, and a bit dramatic at the time, but all is well now and Tanuja is almost back to full fitness.

The trip has been delayed for 2 weeks but in an 8 month trip that's not really a problem. Getting ill before the wedding or in India would have been a much bigger problem. Plus it means we've had a chance to set up this travelblog thing.

We've both bought all-new action slacks and are now ready to fly.

A few days after we land we'll be heading up to the Himalayas to learn Hindi at Landour language school, so prepare yourselves for some hindi lessons in the next couple of emails. After that we don't know where we'll be; possibly Darjeeling, Mumbai, the South and Rajasthan - basically as much of India as we can cover
