Newstead Abbey
Newstead Abbey Had a nice slow start to the day yesterday....and it got faster from there!
Kel took me on a tour of the Notts county....started off at Newstead Abbey for a few hours for a look around the statley home of Lord Byron and a meander thru the gardens...very impressive!
...then off to Rufford Abbey which was built in the 1400's but just a shell now (those monks
know how to party!) and then off to Sherwood Forrest for a walk down the paths and dodging
arrows (true story! got ambushed by some 10 year olds with toy bows and arrows!) so took
shelter at the Major Oak which legend has it was where some bloke named Robyn used to hang out...
Was nearly 4pm by this stage and hanging out for some 'snap' (as they call lunch hear) so picked
up Aunty Eunice and went to The Cat And The Fiddle for a steak where Colin (Kels dad) joined us for a
good 'crack' (chat)
Went to Ilkeston for the friday night pubcrawl and see a band...good night but rained as usual!
Went to The Warren, The Charter, Gladstone Lodge for a 21st birthday, 3 Horseshoes for the
band and back to the Charter for a while...before taxi home...
