Sycamore Gap
From Robin Hood In the Robin Hood movie staring Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman, Robin arrives back in England on the beaches under the white cliffs of Dover. Making his way back to Nottingham, Robin rescues a young boy being chased by the sheriff of Nottingham's men. The young boy is treed by hounds up the tree at Sycamore Gap on Hadrian's wall, the same tree pictured in this blog. Anybody with a little knowledge of English geography would question his route.
We are now in Corbridge on the Tyne River and spent the afternoon visiting the old Roman town site which was an located on the main route for raids in to Scotland in the North and York to the south. The lion fountain, found in a well, was one of best preserved statues excavated from the site.
