This is Fort Moffat. This is Fort Moffat. This is Fort Moffat.

It is a split house, with us living on the right side and our Chinese landlord living in the left.
Ok - so it is not the most glamorous part of England. In fact, we are probably in the trashiest area of Kent so I can't promise that these images or this blog is going to be all that thrilling. However, I thought it might be interesting for you to see where it is that we live and a tiny part of the our surroundings.
Let me tell you a little about our surroundings. Chatham is a town I would liken to Elizabeth. We have been warned to to go out at night alone. But it actually isn't all that bad. We are in a part of it where there is an army base and a big appartment complex called "The Eye," and because of this there is a lot of security in the area. about 100 metres walk down the road there is the "Brook Theatre" and a great Chinese Restaurant called the Golden Dragon and a pub that we haven't been to yet. Across the road there is a big shopping complex/bus interchange called "The Pentagon" where we do all our shopping and catch the bus from to go to school. The Chatham library is also across the road

Around the back of the house. Only just recently was all the rubbish and junk left behind by the landlord cleaned up!!
from us which is really convenient as they have free internet access and a really good selection of DVD's to hire (you still have to pay to hire them though!!! Even if you are a member!), the most recent releases. Other than that the only other area of Chatham that we go to is the High street which is also a minute walk away. It can be quite entertaining walking down the high street as it is filled with Vicky pollard (Little Brittain) type characters and there are always couples fighting. So, it is not the best area, but it isn't really all that bad, despite what Luke says!!!
Now, to explain the name of our house, "Fort Moffat." when we first moved in, we sat down together as a household and had our first meal together, of Chinese takeaway. We were talking and thought it would be fun to name our home. We decided it had to include "Fort" as we are actually close to an old navy fort and are surrounded by army bases. Looking around the room we saw "Moffat" on the oven. So we put two and two together and thought the name actually suited the

place. Anyway, we have decided to get army t-shirts printed up with Fort Moffat on them and when we all head off on our travels around the world we are going to take pictures of ourselves in all different countries around the world, wearing our "Fort Moffat" army tops, and send the pictures to each other. Might sound silly, but we thought it was a good way to keep in touch after we leave our house at the end of July.
Anyway, here are some pictures of where we live.

The kitchen is a reasonable size, but check out the blue tiled walls!!! Good for food fights.

The loungeroom is straight down the hall as you enter the house. Would you believe that the mess isn't mine!!!

We now have a TV someone from school lent us and we bought a cheap DVD player.

Now for upstairs! There is a room downstairs (Lorens) on the left as you enter the house but it was too messy to take a picture of! The stairs are on the right as you enter the house, as well as a toilet.

As you reach the top of the stairs the bathroom is on the right.

Mel's room is straight on as you reach the top of the stairs (no picture of this), and ours is next to hers. Gotta love our pink walls and blushing red carpet. Our curtains were so disgusting and useless we had to put two on one rail (to block out the sun) and use a quilt cover for the other! How ugly!

Did you notice the unmatching curtains! He he he. I've been meaning to clean that desk up too!

This is the road/carpark leading up to our house. If we had a car it wouldn't get stolen cos of the boomgate.

This is the road leading down from our house and you can see how close the "Brook Theatre" is (the building with the clock).
