Introduction

Hello. I am Ronald Gill. I'm recently remarried. I'm 53 years young and ready for a holiday of a life time.

Have decided that life is too short after working long hours for over 27 years with TNT, I need a break and now I am embarking on the adventure of a life time.

Around the world in 12 months!!! Will we do it? There's only one way to find out. Let's go for it.....

Our children think it's a great idea to do the trip, but me thinks they are glad to be rid of us....

We plan to start our journey August 19th 2007. Our plans include Flying to Prague overland to Vilnius, Riga then to Russia. We will take the Trans Siberian Railway to Beijing. Overland to Hong Kong, fly to Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, Los Angeles overland to Canada, then back home.

Yes, I embark on this adventure with in trepidation. No home comforts, staying in hostels and roughing it a lot.

For someone who likes her home comforts, luxury holidays and dislikes bad hair days, creepy crawlies etc, this could be a nightmare ready to happen.....

Didn't realise rucksacks come in all shapes and sizes. Bit of a shock to find I have to carry my own luggage. Shock, horror, will have to pack wisely. A girl needs so much!! What could I possibly leave behind, definitely not my hair dryer......

What a nightmare, Trans Siberian Railway - 6 days on a train, no showers!!! Does he know what he'll be putting me through....

Just bought loads of wet wipes in readiness and trying to grow my hair so I can tie it back ( Low maintenance) I guess I'll be wearing a hat for most of the journey.......
