On goes the viel
Poor Em's eyes wear wattering when this went in Its the day after the night before......
I'm alive and in one piece after the wedding, though my head is a little groggy. Woke up this morning at some ungodly hour with the room still spinning, went to lift my head and thought this is not such a good idea!! Drowned myself in some much needed fluid that wasn't alcoholic and took my sorry self back to bed.
Woke up at about 11am still feeling rough but getting better, parents made me a yummy roast dinner which smelt sooo good, have enjoyed that and am now starting to feel a lot better, need to top up my fluids though :o)
So...the wedding!! What a great day :o) The weather was fantastic, bright, sunny, warm but not sticky which it has been for the last few days. I'll give you a quick run down of the day.
Friday night we all stayed at Em's mum's, went up to her brothers place to have some nibbles and a drink, we were all getting sleepy by 10.30 though, sad arent we. I was still getting used to UK time so I had an excuse :o) We toddled back to Em's
The Dress
Beautiful! mums and all crashed out ready for the big day.
Em's woke me up at around 9ish as we were first on the list to get our hair and makeup done at the hairdressers, we had some breakfast and off we walked to the salon, we were running a bit late....opps!!
Em had her hair put in sexy rollers and then it was my turn, owch is all I can say!!! First off was the makeup which she did fairly quickly, we all had the same style, nice and simple, was a blue eyeliner to match the dress and a thin line of gold shimmer on the eyelid.
As you all know I have a thick curly mess of hair so she was having great fun getting through, at one point it was backcombed and I looked like I had a mane like a lion, I wish I had a picture it was very funny. She did a good job at getting it all back, it was a sort of twisty thing at the back of my head, not sure of the technical term :o) We had these lovely blue and crystal sparkly clips at the side,
Bride & Bridemaids
Em's with her ladies for the day I dont think you can see it though on any of the pics I have. I had enough hairspray on my head to save me in an accident, my hair was not going anywhere in a hurry lets say, it was so itchy underneath though and it was hard not to scratch it.
After we all had our hair and makup done it was back to Em's mums and the big hurry to get dressed and ready for the cars to arrive. I was ready first, never takes me long to get ready so I was on help everyone else duty. I helped Em's get ready, good job we've known each other for years is all I can say :o) It was on with the bridal underwear, very nice I may say...hehe and then on with the dress, I was so paranoid about getting my sticky fingers on it, I must have washed them about 10 times. Em was zipped in and then it was time to straighten out the netting underneath and arrange the train and plump the veil, all in a days work for a bridesmaid. Finally we were all ready and waiting to go, the cars
Mr & Mrs Harwood
The happy couple cutting the cake were outside and ready, we were about half an hour late but thats a brides duty, keep them waiting :o)
We all arrived at the church and had some pictures, I bet poor Simon was having kittens stood at the altar as we were so late by then. Then it all seemed to happen without thinking about it, we were following Em down the Isle and sitting watching them get married, it was all over so fast! It was a very nice service and not to many tears. Then it was all out of the church for photo's, the weather stayed dry and sunny so there will be some great pictures.
By 4pm we were all starving and ready for a sit down and a bite to eat so it was of to the Golf Club for dinner and speaches, it was such a nice day we were all sitting outside in the sun staring at the green. The food was yummy, I ate way too much (for a change) and then it was speach time which all went down well and without to much dirt dished. It was time then to get my dancing shoes on, and
Char & Em
Friends always in the heels I had on, this was going to be an achievement, proud to say I managed it and they stayed on all night, minus a few minutes here and there to wiggle my toes :o)
So that was it, I was drunk....had way too much wine and was dancing around before it was last orders and time to go home. It was a great day and I hope Mr & Mrs Harwood had a fab time.
Now its Sunday and the day is all over, it was in the planning for years and it has been and gone, amazing!!!
So now the focus is on the rest of the holiday and what I can do next. Not used to not doing anything so having a bit of trouble relaxing, need to fill my time with various outings. Tomorrow I think I'm going to lunch and the Trafford Centre (big shopping complex in Manchester) with a friend so that should be nice and then Tues is my birthday, have no plans for that though, maybe just out for dinner.
I'll update this again in a few days with my latest events.
