It is currently February 1st, at 10:07 AM here, and 10:37 PM on January 31st at home. 11-1/2 hour time difference. I did know know that was a thing.
Our adventure began very early in Yangon, the former colonial capital of Myanmar. The exceptionally friendly people of the former British colony known as Burma were very welcoming after long being isolated under a military dictatorship.
We were supposed to land around 5:00 AM, but the pilot aborted during the approach. Fog was sitting right over the airport and they were not comfortable going in. Shortly after that, they closed the airport until the fog burned off. So, we circled Yangon for 2 hours, but got to see a beautiful sunrise. Once we landed, we were met by a representative of Natural Habitat Adventure (our tour organizer), and were transported to our hotel. In the evening, we will meet up with our Expedition Leader for a briefing and welcome dinner.
