Edit Blog Post
Hi everyone
It's been a long time since I've written a blog, despite lots going on, so I shall start with this one summarising the general goings on this summer.
The biggest thing to happen is the fact I now have an actual real job! Cramming in everything I want to do into just a few hours each day was tough at first, but I'm now used to it, and really enjoy having a routine and money to spend! It's been almost three months since I started, but I'm still enjoying it, and I get on great with my colleagues. Luckily it's only in Hemel Hempstead, so my commute is nice and short. However having this job means, as I mentioned, my socialising time is much more limited, generally only to weekends, which is the main reason why I've been so busy!
The first big event of the summer was Matt's housewarming back on Midsummer's Eve in June, which was a brilliant weekend. Bringing along my stupid flower thing from the Danish shop Tiger and finally opening my Vodka with Gold bits in it, a lot of memories from my Erasmus time
came back to me (including renactments of the "Funny picture" photo from The Party House Garden - you should check my Facebook if you don't know which one I'm referring to, it's a proper classic), and got talking to some Scandinavians at the party. The party literally went on until morning, managing just a few hours sleep when it was already light, but with a lot of friends staying the night too it was a really good night - to those of you who came, thanks for a great night!
A few weeks later, after my first training course, as well as a visit to the control centre in the Midlands with work, Sandy came to visit me for the weekend. After many times going to stay with other friends abroad, for the first proper time I was able to repay the favour, when my Dutch friend finally came to visit me. Meeting up once again for the fifth year running, Sandy flew in to Luton on what was one of the hottest days of the year, and we spent the weekend lazing around Dunstable and the area, going off to Ashridge, Pitstone, up the Downs, and
bowling in town, as well as going to the Bedford River Festival on the Saturday night, in time for the illuminated boat parade and firework show. Despite not managing to see the Harry Potter Studios Tour as planned, due to it being sold out four weeks in advance, it was still a brilliant weekend and it was lovely to be able to give a tour of my city for once!
Last weekend was my cousin's wedding, which resulted in some hilarious drunken family moments, and I've also been for some lovely catch up meals with Matt & Saman, and have changed my car! And so, as you can see, it's been pretty busy this summer, and before I go to Norway next weekend, I shall endeavour to write the next blog about my day trip to Flanders from two weeks ago!
