Just a week or two before our great trip to Sri Lanka our flat nearly burnt down.
A bike was set on fire (in the street) and it then exploded into the dry cleaners on the ground floor which then went up like a bat out of hell burning out the flat above and 'warming' ours on the top floor.
Just the windows in the end went. We were back inside sleeping (after the firemen had bashed our door in with an axe at 4 a.m.) in 2 hours!
A little close for comfort...
