On the south west outskirts of London, there is a beautiful park which is managed by the National Trust. The park possesses a sizeable green space, wetland, and the rose garden, and is called an oasis for the Morden citizens. It’s a 5 minutes walk from Morden tube station on the Northern Line, and is free entry.

One of the main features of the park is Wardle River, which flows to all directions within the park. There are many bridges; each of them has different designs. The property used to be owned by the Hatfield family who were manufacturing snuff made of tobacco, and there are a number of buildings and mill which were used by them in the park. Former industrial buildings were converted to the exhibition centre, craft centre, and restaurant. The mill, which was used for manufacturing snuff, is in operation, and the water flows to the river.

The Hatfield family planted dozens of roses on the south part of the property in 1922. There are more than 2,000 roses planted, and red, cream, orange, and pink roses flowering between late spring and the beginning of autumn.

There are a wide variety of trees, e.g. beeches, cedars, chestnut trees, and willows grown and visitors are guaranteed to enjoy walking in the parkland and woods. The reed beds and wetland stretches from east to north part of the park, and walkers can hear birds’ singing and trace the movements of wildlife.

City Deen Farm, adjacent to the park, is a very lively farm. There are kitchen gardens and borders planted with seasonal flowers around the entrance. Various types of animals, e.g. geese, goats, donkeys, rabbits, peacocks with white wings, and alpacas are looked after. They are very friendly and tame so that they greet visitors if they touch or feed them with the food that is sold in the shop.
