Nellie's busy in the UK at the moment planning the trip for January 2010 to Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

Today, Irene's lifelong friend Floss and Monk were due to attend the 'Light Up A Life' ceremony at the Princess Alice Hospice in Esher, Surrey where a light on the Christmas tree was to be dedicated in memory of Irene. Unfortunately, the recent rain had made the whole area so boggy that the event had to be cancelled. Floss and Monk had lunch together instead at Cafe Prov in Herne Hill and they shed a few tears at 16:30 when the single candle was due to be lit by the chaplain at the Princess Alice.

Irene had worked as a volunteer at the hospice for the past few years and had made many friends there during that time. She never attended the hospice as a patient. Everything happened so quickly and, in a sense, that was a blessing. She was so strong and so brave and so beautiful.
