Marble Arch
Gabi and I posing in front of Marble Arch, London. Well, the time is going by very fast but it's been a crazy busy week for me and just settling into a bit of relaxation on Sunday night. Yay.
Monday I met up with my Switz aupair friend Jenni. We went on a movie date to see "Easy Virtue". It was an English movie, they are generally neat for me because they aren't all American type "films". It wasn't what I had expected but it was alright and a night out of the house.
Tuesday was my volunteer day at the charity shop. I had a good day chatting with the volunteers and getting the place organized. The day flew by after having to deal with bank about an incurred charge, etc. I had my Alpha class in the evening which was a really nice time, we learned about healings both historically and right now. It was good and the speaker was one of my favorites.
Wednesday was a good day of running around. I met up with Gabi in the morning and we did a bit of shopping as well so it was a nice day out. I got to see Rhiannon's Christmas show at the school
Crest of London and Chloe
Yah, I liked this bear and he was a friendly poser! which was totally adorable. I am going to load some of the videos on youtube so you can see them there. She is quite a singer and has been practicing every day! I knew most of the songs by heart by the time i had heard them performed in the show. After school I took the kids to North Finchley where we got a few presents for their parents for Christmas. They have been bugging me to teach them knitting too so I picked up a pair of needles for them! In the evening I rushed off to deal with an Oyster card problem and attend my volunteer Christmas party for the charity shop. It was a good dinner but I lost track of the time and was supposed to get a bus within 5 minutes of realizing the time to meet my aupair friend Bianka. I got to the bus stop with enough time but it had left early so i missed out on dessert and stood out in the cold for 20 minutes for the next bus! I then realized how I am repeating my life in Canada, filling up my spare minutes all the time! Good reality
Blue Fairies and Chloe
These rollerskating fairies were really sweet entertainers and very happy to get photographs taken! check I suppose. So, I met up with Bianka for another movie date to see "My Best Friend's Girl". There is a special deal at the theatre in Borehamwood on Wednesdays so it is half the price at the Odeon nearby my house. Definately worth the trip over to her end of the woods! Anyhow, got a bit of a chat and enjoyed the movie together, another late night.
Thursday I skipped out on the gym to just chill, catch up on laundry and housework that was long overdue. I accomplished quite a bit and then had my usual time with the kids. We wrapped presents for Lynne and Dave as well as Alex and Rhiannon helped me wrap the other kid's gifts after promising secrecy of what they would be getting. So far so good. After dinner and gift wrapping, I had a few phone calls and despite wanting an early night, ended up having a normal very late resting time!
Friday the kids enjoyed a pancake breakfast after cereal and toast all week! They were pretty stoked about the pancakes as they really love it when I make them. Dave and Lynne just told me they are wanting to see what all the fuss is about and try them too. Got my work cut out for me eh? ANyho, got them to school, went to the gym (did that 3x this week) and then came home to finish some more tidying, catch up on some emails and that sort of stuff. I babysat the kids in the evening as D and L were out so we did a bit of knitting, watched a bit of tv and hung out. After a phone call from Ma and Pa Deeg I went to sleep.
Saturday was a run around day but very good. I got up around 9am and met up with Jeni, a friend of Liz (attends my church who drives me to Alpha sometimes). Jeni wanted someone to help with cleaning 2 hours per week. I got a tour of the house and got an idea of what she wants cleaned so I will have a few extra £ in my pocket, always a good thing in London! So, Wednesdays I will clean her place and she gave me the name of one of her friends who could use me. So, I could be an extremely busy girl! I think if it keeps up, I will possibly switch my Tuesday volunteer day to Saturdays once in a while so I have a few free weekdays to do my real aupair job! I have to do about 2 hours of cleaning if i don't babysit so I have to ensure I do right by my family. Anyhow, I guess all in all I just can't sit still for long and I need to be busy. With that being said, I am cutting back the gym to 3x/week. If I need to add more work in that area, I will do it on the weekend. With my schedule as it is, I am free during the evenings which is good for babysitting nights. After meeting Jeni, I met up with Gabi and we took the bus into Central London. We took a bunch of detours as Oxford Street area was all closed off for pedestrians. Gabi thought it was great that we could walk on the streets and took every opportunity to walk down the middle! On the other hand, I greatly disliked that because I somehow ended up nearly tripping every block or so because the road pavement is really uneven. Even with her heels, Gabi seemed to make out just fine. I learned that many other folks had the same problem as me and saw many wipeouts. Yikes!
It was quite neat, they had entertainers all over the place, good picture spots and an all around good time to be had! I thoroughly enjoyed my time out and then we made our way home randomly taking buses we didn't know! It worked out okay though. I came home to make a few phone calls to Canada and then prepared myself for a night out in London. Gabi figured if we are in London we should be really experiencing it so I was up for something exciting. Exciting....we took a bus but ended up on the wrong side of the clubbing parts so we had to backtrack another half an hour! Finally we got to where we had wanted to get to but couldn't find the entrance! Strange. So, we went to a random club, Vertigo. It was supposed to be great, 3 floors of music but 1 floor was a private party, the other 2 floors were playing the same music and the coolest part was the view. You could see everything all lit up with the amusement parks nearby and the London Eye, Big Ben, etc. We decided to make the most of our money spent to get in, seems we picked a more expensive club to visit our first time. We endured a lot of very old hip hop songs and by the end of our time around 1:30 - 2:00, I was feeling really old - wanting to go home and wondering how people can go out every weekend and enjoy it! Haha. ANyways, it was neat but a cold way home waiting for buses, etc.
Sunday morning I went to church with Hannah and that was pretty sweet as I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks. I went up to the Barnet Christmas Fair with her, watched some plays by Crown Jewels, young people who dance/mime stories to Christian music. It was really quite powerful. We hung out with her mom and Chris, heard more about their wedding plans, etc. It was good day out and then Gabi came over for our roast dinner (her aupair family are vegetarians so she never gets meat!). After she left, I called home and now just getting some time to catch up on emails and all that good stuff. So, that's my story. Hope you've enjoyed this extremely long update, hugs - Chloe
