Original Tower Wall Tower Bridge is a combined
bascule and
suspension bridge built between 1886 and 1894. The bridge crosses the
River Thames close to the
Tower of London. The bridge consists of two
bridge towers tied together at the upper level by two horizontal walkways, designed to withstand the horizontal
tensionforces exerted by the suspended sections of the bridge on the landward sides of the towers. The vertical components of the forces in the suspended sections and the vertical reactions of the two walkways are carried by the two robust towers. The bascule pivots and operating machinery are housed in the base of each tower. The bridge deck is freely accessible to both vehicles and pedestrians, whereas the bridge's twin towers, high-level walkways and Victorian engine rooms form part of the Tower Bridge Exhibition.
I decided to try the new attraction called the Tower Bridge Experience. You take an elevator up to the 4th floor where you can walk across the bridge on both sides. However, the new attraction has glass panels embedded in the floor so that you can look down upon the street as traffic goes by. It was very popular with people young and old laying down or sitting

Original Tower Wall down on the glass. When I first walked on it, by belly gave a little flip-flop. The two towers of Tower Bridge had a nice display of its history. By now my feet are hurting, so being late afternoon, I joined the throngs of people heading home from work on the Tube. Since this was my last night in the hotel I was staying in, I decided to try the food at the Italian restaurant across from my hotel. I ordered a spinach and cheese ravioli with a side of fried zucchini. For desert I ate a slice of chocolate cake. Loved the pasta but not so much the chocolate cake. I think I’m beginning to dislike chocolate in England. It doesn’t taste the same.
