PART I
Felicia toiled and toiled and toiled. And on the 7th day
Jason came from the sky and landed a mere 30 minutes late.

We had the day off on Wednesday, so we went straight to Fulller's Brewery for a little tour and a pint or two. Fuller's is the oldest brewery still in existence in England (according to Fuller's Brewery). Our tour included our guide, Felicia and me, a London professional taking the day off for a tour, and a teacher with approximately 8 privileged high school students, most of whom are headed to Cambridge, and did not need to take notes.

Fuller's still maintains 17th Century brewing equipment as well as modern brewing equipment.
For instance, Fuller's stopped using this steele masher many years ago.

Fact: Thames River water was used to make Fuller's way back when.
Fact: There is not water in beer...only liquor (which is actually water)
Fact: All the hops & barley in the ales are from England

And now you know!

Donning orange safety vests, we were shown the different parts of the brewery. Like
Water...er, liquourWater...er, liquourWater...er, liquour

A view of the nearby Thames--the water used to be used to brew Fuller's
everything else, things are now run by computers (the tour guide fondly referred to the people pushing buttons as "ding-a-lings")

Back in the Hock Cellar, the tour guide treated us to a tasting session. We all agreed that the London Pride was the best. The second pint we had to pour ourselves.....the tour guide complimented Jason on his "brilliant" pour!

It was a lovely day!

And what did you do on your last day off???!!! Comments are appreciated--we want to know, because we hope you are well and we miss you!

Brilliant Pour!
Hi you two! Glad to see you are enjoying yourselves on a day off. I've been waiting to see what you've been up to lately. I thought I would share that I'm in Sun Valley right now, although its not "time off". I'm here for a conference that is very informative and we haven't had much down time yet. I'm thinking about going for a walk shortly, since its no longer snowing. It snowed for most of the morning, which was lovely. I mean it when I say lovely! It was fun opening up the curtains this morning to snow covered trees and grass and luckily I brought appropriate outer-wear. Thanks for sharing what you're up to and talk to you soon. Love, Heather

yum.
I would love a pint, thanks! ;o) I am so happy to hear both of you have made it across the pond safe and soundly. And I really like that one of the first things you did together was go take a tour of a brewery. Thank you for the beer facts, and the pics as always. And yes, most brilliant pours for the both of you. Cheers! Everett

Loverly day off!
Now that looks good! Wish I could join you! Glad to hear you are having fun together at last. My next day off comes next week - I am heading to Chelan for a few days of vegitating. Thought you might like to hear that Gail is back, 2600 miles of treking later. Snow kept her 70 miles from finishing at the border, but she will finish as soon as the wether clears. Other than that, some 'ol here - We just miss you lots and ove the blog.
