Slinky Malinky with Eddie by his side
Very sad news about Slinky our cat - he became ill just before Christmas and has sadly passed away. Many of you will have fond memories of this beautiful cat so we decided to write a few words in his honor…

Slinky cat of Wivenhoe 2000 - 2008

In 2000 two little black cats,
Came to live at Foresters Hall;
Bob and Mima couldn’t resist,
The one who climbed Bob’s leg and sat,
Upon his shoulder cute and small!

When he arrived he was called Frankie,
But later on his name did change;
First was Stinky ‘cos he did whiff,
But sleek and cool he seemed so slinky,
And so it was his name became…

Slinky Malinky we liked to say,
His shiny black coat gleaming bright,
As his tail swished from side to side,
Those wide green eyes would give away,
His thoughts, his dreams, what he might like…

Eating, sleeping or being cuddled,
Was mainly how he spent his days;
He’d often vanish for some hours,
Leaving poor Eddie quite befuddled,
Where had Slinky Malinky strayed?...

Tucked away where no-one could see,
Secret spots were his favourite thing;
Behind the sofa, under the

stairs,
Away from Eddie he would flee,
King of hidey holes for sleeping!

His curiosity once backfired,
Whilst looking for a secret place;
The plumber had the floorboards up,
The boiler was to be re-wired,
Down Slink went for some peace and space…

Some hours later, night had fallen,
The plumber gone, the boards put back;
Finally he heard steps above,
So he began mewing and calling,
Please let me out, I’ve had my nap!

We searched the house hearing miaowing,
It took a while to find The Slink,
Up came the boards and out he came,
Grey with cobwebs he needed dusting,
But his first thoughts were food and drink!

When not snoozing or having a gobble,
Slinky liked to find a warm lap,
Under chin strokes, behind ear tickles,
Would make him purr and sometimes dribble,
Settling down for another nap!

Slink was lucky when we went away,
To spend some time with Cath and Si;
A new fireside spot he did find,
Much love and cuddles came his way.
Now he’s resting peacefully,
Those who knew him have fond memories,
Of Slinky Malinky the Wivenhoe cat,
He’s found his final secret place

I think it could be time for a little cat nap - Ed will keep me nice and warm!
