Keep happy "keep the guests happy" is not an easy thing, but definitely important and worth working on. It's good to have a passionate and professional local operator to sort out things. :)

Brilliant posting! Dear Sarah and Bob, Hope all is well with you. Very useful and hope you can give us Jagat's telephone number. Looking forward and All the very best to your travels in future. Cheers, jags
Thanks Thanks very much for your kind words. I think it has changed dramatically now that the restrictions on numbers have been brought in. Maybe well worth going back on your list of places to visit!
Cheers,
Bob

2nd edition Mother-in-Law-Malaise A sympton of Delhi Belly (apart from the obvious) is clearly boredom - spending too much time recreating the mother-in-law joke.
Treatment of the embarrassing age condition could be to dispense with facial hair - but unlikely I guess!
Yippieeee for Russ Hi Sarah and Bob...
Give all the lovely Russ girls a GIANT kiss from me and Anna - we miss them all SO much!
Love and hugs to you both too, Clarissa and Anna xxx
Talking of inventive job titles back home... ...didn't you call yourself a Solutions Architect at some point?
Of course there's always the horrific Localis Terrifilis - where the people you meet in the hostel are so bored of dossing around that their only relief is terrifying new comers. Symptoms: being offered an evening of free rum and cokes, before being propositioned but the hostel owner of same sex, before he breaks down crying about his broken childhood and wants to be a woman. Treatment: First plane back to Wivenhoe. (true story)
Beautiful pictures Lovly pictures!!
I was wondering, what to bring or not to bring to mongolia...me and my class (Nunavut Sivuniksavut, NS for short) are going to Mongolia in late April, early May...
any advice?
Lovely pictures ^_^
Mother-in-Law-Malaise Being away so long means you have to endure visits from the mother-in-law. Symptoms - having to squeeze 3 backsides into an auto-rickshaw that can hardly cope with one large size Western one. Also constantly being asked wherever you go "you pay for wife and daughter?"
No known treatment available
Confused You could be confused over Sarah's story - paragraph 3 she mentions starting out on 28 January in time to get to India for NYE. She means of course starting out on 28 December. The Indian heat has gone to her head, I know because I've just returned from an amazing adventure in Kerala and my brain hasn't quite caught up yet!
Oh how the heart bleeds :-)
Perhaps you should add:
Gritted Teeth
The look of someone having to listen to a traveller's tale of how life changing their trip to Beijing / Delhi / Southend was.
At least in the old days you had to wait until they came back before enduring the endless prattling and photos. Bloody Internet.
Sanjay
Soppy Gits Ah bless you pair of soppy gits and bless slinky.
Loving how you have far too much time on your hands (says she who is on the internet on a Saturday night with a Gin and Tonic and a box of jelly beans).
Take it easy dudes.
Big hugs,
xx
see real compassion It is real compassion when you can view those who would destroy your country, people, beliefs and anything else.
But there again, to a buddhist there is no country, people or belief.
So there is nothing to be upset about, continue to smile and greet all with friendliness as if they were your loved ones.
Because "they"are!
Well done the Mc mehews for enduring the cold to see such beauty.
august in tibet we had similar experiences in tibet. it was rain and clouds 4 most of the time we were there (rainy season). however we traveled with our mandarin speaking son and his chinese girlfriend. it was the peak of the tourist season. we were there for 2 weeks. my son and his girlfriend became very frustated with the dishonesty and the "rip off the tourist attitude" of the tibetans and the travel regulations of the chinese. while traveling we were stopped and checked 4 permits about every 50 km. we were turned around on our trips from reasons such as "foreigners cannot travel with a chinese person in tibet" to " this dirt road is unsafe 4 tourists". the road was being traveled by semi trucks and buses. we ended up seeking chinese businesses in tibet because they were more honest. many tibetan establishments had 2 menus or prices. one price 4 tourists and a lower price 4 tibetans. however we did have a memorable trip. we experienced culture and scenery we will never forget.
The League of Extraordinary ROCK! Plus five points for a splendid use of time and resources.
Minus one point for not knowing that Lynyrd Skynyrd was the source of Sweet Home Alabama.
Minus two points for mixing up band names and song titles in your list, Herve will not be pleased with your metadata standards.
Keep up the good work, I suggest a sweepstake, in which case my money's on Hotel California. You'll hear that nonstop in all the languages under the sun (and thats just from the Park Hotel jukebox).
Portaloos Hmm...puts me in mind of my experience - an all over 'bog wash' in the dark in a portaloo in the Milan 'Fashion district'...remember that little anecdote?
Love to both xx
The love of a good song After visiting numerous karaoke bars in China and only ever singing one song I have to recommend Hotel California as the winner by default. No other cheesy rock comes close to the intensity of lyrics combined with long drawn out air guitar solo and the opportunity to swing your arms around, and actually just sing whatever you want with no one caring. It can't and mustn't lose.
Keep on truckin,
Joe
