Car Park
Vieew of the stadium from our free car park!! Another boring saturday beckoned until we decided to take a trip to Milton Keynes to watch the mighty Gills take on the M.K Dons.
After checking directions, parking, wheather report and the all important directions to the nearest pre-game pub we were ready for the off. We had to make a couple of quick divertions on route to the home of G.F.C to pick up our tickets, then to a cash point before heading north.
Whilst travelling up the M2 we were over taken by one of the gills players Andrew Crofts and became star struck feeling it necessary to overtake him and give him a few smiles here and there, then onwards and upwards onto the M25 cruzing along nicely in the Rover until stop!!!!, the M25 shut due to an accident, even the air ambulance threatend to land in front of us but left it to the normal one which arrived at the same time, I of course got out to investigate the damage only to be approached by an old couple who came over for a chat about a christening they were going to. During the conversation with old random man the motorway was opened

Dave enjoys a pre match pint! although down to one lane and we were off again, travelling up the M1 with no more trouble and coming off at junction 14 to be faced with 9 roundabouts before seeing the stadium ahead off us. Milton Keynes is very strange, it's very clean but deserted like something out of 28 days later. All roads are on a grid system and it looks like everthing is made of lego!!
We parked up in a pay and display only to find we didnt need to pay on saturdays, result! So we parked up and headed off to find the all important weatherspoons.
After walking around what can only be described as a buisness estate we found it, full to the brim with mainly gills fans and walked in to be greeted by my mate from the rainham end. We made our way to the bar for food and drink and listen to the gills fans singing and chanting our songs. Whislt at the bar i got talkin to a random lady who was a Mk Dons fan! We mulled over a few of their players and the facilities at their stadium! she was also pleased to tell
Willis 1
Willis reading the programme waiting for her food!! me of their new stadium which holds 30,000 even though they get between 5-6000 for a home game? Then time to make our way to the stadium.
Again funny place with no atmosphere or banter between fans as your so far away from each other. It was sit where you like so we took our places 3 rows from the back directly behind the goal. A very good view and the far end was exceptionally clear due to the fact that this was possibly the shortest pitch i have seen at a league ground! Well it did used to be for Hockey i suppose.
The Gills were out late for the warm up as they had been stuck in traffic!!
Anyway the game kicked off with the sun shinning and the wind blowing a moderate swirling wind. The Gills had the better of the opening exchanges with most of the possesion and a few corners. The longer the half wore on the more the Mk Dons players resorted to diving, time wasting and feigning injury. They were obviously scared! The ref was having a reasonable game until 2mins from half time when he went into "i want to
Panoramic
The view from our seats! All pics taken with Sony Ericsson K750i (Daves Mobile!) be the centre of attention mode!"
Izzle Mcleod cut into the box on the right and Wallis matched him for pace. Mcleod took a heavy touch and wallis looked to shield the ball out until he was pulled over by Mcleod right on the byline! The ref blew up and gave a penalty!! No way!! For good measure he even booked wallis!!
A Mk Dons player sent JB the wrong way and it was 1-0!!
A half chance fell to either side before half time!! I went off to the gents wondering if our great day out was going to turn sour!
The Second half got under way and the Gills looked shaky!!
Then after around 60mins Super Darren Byfield sprinted down the left, cut inside his man before unleashing the fury into the bottom corner!! 1-1!! RandomMan, Willis and 1,000 or so Gills Fans lept to their feet to applaude Byfield as he saluted the crowd!!
From the centre Gills won possesion and andrew crofts was brought down on the edge of the area!! While some players formed a wall and some were still arguing Tommy Black curled a quick free kick over
Willis 2
Willis in the stand before the excitment began! the wall and past the stranded keeper!! I Fully expected the ref to blow for a retake but this was not to be. I think he had a guilty concience over the pen!
"Your not singing anymore" was the noise that rose from the away end!! 2-1 to the Gills and just what we deserved!
The last half hour was pretty comfortable and Gills looked most likely to score another Goal. Danny Spiller came on and wasted 2 good chances and Pouton was booked for a well timed trip on a Dons player threatening to break clear!
Full time whistle blew and the gills were worthy owners of three valuable points!!
This took their total for the season to 50 points!!
We made our way back to the car just before it started raining. This had been something of concern to Willis as the away stand had no roof!!
After filing through the usual traffic we we on our way back. We decided to reward our away day effforts with a curry from the Cumin Club in Rochester. While we waited for our take away we got a swift half in the golden lion!! I won
JB
Jason Brown Warms up! £3 on the fruity!! We collected our food a sprinted back to the dentist car park!!
A good day all round and another league ground visited!!
Oh well bye for now
All the best
See you on our next outing
