In lovely weather we had our first breakfast sitting outside and spent the rest of the morning looking around the delightful Kalmar Renaissance centre built on a small island and connected to the rest of the town by several bridges. On another isolated spit of land is its well preserved castle, Kalmar Slott. We then drove over the impressive 6k bridge to the adjacent holiday island of Oland.
We spent the rest of the day driving 350k north to Stockholm where we found another excellent city campsite. John Halligan our nephew is working in Stockholm at present. We were able to make contact with him and it turned out he lived very close to where we were staying so he joined us for a lovely supper in the warm evening sunlight.
