Jávea (or Xàbia in Valencian) is one of the towns on the Costa Blanca that shape a lifestyle and above all a way of enjoying Mediterranean tourism due to its quality and variety in the places we can visit, gastronomy to taste and beaches in which to bathe. Yo can visit this
car hire in Javeaand enjoy the city.
In this article we are going to review the most beautiful places to see in Jávea so that you can make your own itinerary if you want to visit this beautiful coastal town.
The Granadella cove
Located about 10km from the center, this rock and gravel beach is one of the most famous in Spain. In an environment that connects the mountain with the sea, here you can enjoy crystal clear waters, perfect for snorkeling.
La Cala Granadella has a restaurant, hammock service and a place to rent snorkel and kayak equipment, since one of the most interesting maritime routes on the entire Costa Blanca departs from here. Later in this article I will show you the route.
Port of Jávea
The port of Jávea is a perfect area to walk, have tapas in the bars or eat in
one of its restaurants. Here you can enjoy the Mediterranean gastronomy par excellence, with fresh fish direct from the port.
In fact, there is a fishmonger in the port where sailors auction off fresh fish just out of the sea.
Routes through the Montgó Natural Park
The town of Jávea is separated from that of Dénia by the Montgo Natural Park, which has an area of more than 2000 hectares and a maximum altitude of 753 meters.
Inside the park there are a lot of hiking routes that take us to very beautiful places that are worth spending a day in the field, we are going to see some of these routes in case you want to incorporate them into your itinerary in Jávea.
ROUTE 1: Cape San Antonio Lighthouse
From this stop we have impressive views from the top of the coast of Jávea. The pity is that you cannot access the interior of the lighthouse, but the views and the walk itself are worth it.
To get here, we can go by car to the recreational area, which is just under a kilometer from the lighthouse to walk around the area
a bit, or if you prefer you can park directly in the lighthouse area.
ROUTE 2: Cova Tallada
The Cova Tallada is a wonder of nature, a cave that connects directly with the sea, with the rock carved inside since in Muslim times it was used as a quarry for construction.
I recommend that you visit this page, since there are some periods in the year in which it is necessary to request an authorization to go for reasons of capacity control.
There are 2 ways to get here, the simplest is from the Mirador las Rotas, which is the park of the Park that overlooks Denia, or if we prefer to go from Jávea, we can make a route from the green area of Cabo de San Antonio.
ROUTE 3: Molins de la Plana
These 11 mills from the 14th century are located in the flat area, where the “Llebeig” blows. It is a beautiful hiking route to move around the Montgó and enjoy the countryside and wonderful views of Cabo de San Antonio.
Maritime route of the caves
This is one of the coolest routes that I have personally done
by kayak, in which we will visit 2 Caves. I discovered it in the great blog of Beyond the city, and the truth is that it is not wasted.
This route leaves from Cala Granadella, where we can rent a kayak, from there we head to Cova del Llop Marí. Once we have visited the cave, we continue the path, passing through Cala Ambolo to Cova dels Orguens.
Cala la Barraca (or Portitxol) + Viewpoint
This cove, also called the cove of instagramers, is a small picturesque corner of Jávea, where we find some old fishermen's houses, white and blue, perfect to climb a couple of points in our ranking of the posture known as Instagram.
In front we have the Island of Portitxol, which we can access by swimming, kayaking or boat. It is a point with a great marine fauna, ideal if we want to snorkel in its surroundings.
As a point of interest, access to this cove is given by the Mirador de Portitxol, a square with a cross from which we can see the Island.
Old town
The streets of the old town of Jávea preserve their medieval architecture,
buildings built with stones, with medieval arches and defense walls, which were built as a defense perimeter.
Some of the emblematic buildings that we should visit are the Church of San Bartolomé, the Mercado de Abastos, the Town Hall and the historical and ethnological museum.
El Arenal beach
Playa del Arenal is one of the best known in Jávea, with a length of half a kilometer, it is the only sandy beach in the municipality.
Throughout this area you can find a wide variety of restaurants and bars, as well as several nightlife venues. It is in this area where young people go out for a drink on summer nights.
