Just three weeks into my time here, and Amanda and I decide to take a day trip over to Segovia. I knew I wanted to go, the aqueduct intrigued me and I also wanted to see other parts of Spain, but I can't say that on the train ride there my stomach was full of butterflies of excitement. The two hour train ride did not excite me, and getting on the train with a full bladder was a bad mistake. The train did not have a restroom! As it bumped along, so went my patience. However, once we got to the train station and I ran to the loo, I was ready to explore.
Right outside the train station is a bus stop, but since the map does not include a "Ust. esta aqui" (You are here) point, it was useless. A guy from Chicago joined up with Amanda and I and we decided to take to the center on foot. After I asked a passer by in a car where to go, we had enough directions to get us there. The walk was only 10/15 minutes max, and we got to see
The three of us were starving by that point, as it was nearing 3:30, so we headed up away from the castle to a recommended restaurant that *surprisingly* was open all day! No afternoon closing like we thought would happen. It was busy when we went in, so we took a spot at the bar. I ordered
After leaving the restaurant we charged back to the train station, trying to catch the 6:55 back to Madrid. There was one train left that would come at 8:55 so we weren't completely out of luck when we realized at 6:54 we still had at least a 5 minute run ahead of us. We wandered around some more, and found a pet-shop that had a Lynx in a glass room right inside the door. This intrigued us and we went in to find an albino python, African animal (can't remember the name), Hawk, and other critters. The exotic pets were not for sale, and the Lynx was at the pet store part of the time, and the note on the glass said "does not spend all its time here" so I was hoping it had some green pasture to run around in! We loitered for a while then headed over to a bar to pass some more time. While we were at that particular bar a dog came in with its owner and hung out for a while, and a young girl stayed
The bus ride back seemed shorter, and I think it was because there was less to look at since the sun had set, and more reading material thank to our Chicago friend. Amanda and I were back at the school around 11:45, so it was a long day and a later night than usual. Segovia was a very neat place, and I am hoping to take my sister there when she comes in March.
This weekend looks like a trip to the Prado, Rastro flea market, Coin and Stamp market (second time for me!) and some much needed shopping time at El Cortes Ingles.
Next day trip/side trip will be Toledo. Until next time!

Great photos and interesting text
I enjoyed reading your blogs! You have a great mix of telling us about a place we have never experienced and letting us know what normal things happen along the way. Will you show Linds Segovia too?
