Barcelona day 3
OMG! Carmen nearly got arrested but more of that later. It was nice to sleep till late today, especially since it was storming, lighting & pouring down..reminded us off home...then the sun came out full strength Later...Today's tourist attractions were Casa Batllo...I am loving these Gaudy designs....I went to the house to check it out....Carmen went touring the streets....the house was amazing, the curves, views, the balconies, the colours, craftsmanship, and wow the roof top. The house was built in 1875 but it was thought with modern ideas...the theme of the house was the ocean....the house nearly took me 40 minutes to explore. Loved it....after that Carmen and i had lunch and she told me she found the other apartment made by Gaudy...see I knew it was good for her to walk around....seafood lunch first then we set off to have a look at it...same concept as the other house everything he did was designed with nature in mind...the roof in this apartment has a roof with guards...awesome..enjoy the pics...
We spent about an hour in Zara today, we do get ripped off...in Australia...
As it was Saturday. It was appropriate to go out...so
we did the pub crawl thing...pub crawling around here is so easy, as most pubs and clubs are close to each other...can't buy a beer....the guys on the street, sell no Barcelona items at night but they go to the supermarket for you and buy a pack of beer then sell you one....so first stop...Hogans...Aussie pub....two beers down....no we didn't buy them off the street.....Irish pub next..just for you Gerry...shooters down....crowded, noisy and too hard to get a drink..smoke time..met two fellows...I said to them I spoke no Spanish to them..then...I forgot, one said to Carmen...I thought she didn't speak Spanish...oops....they then took us to another Irish pub...said to Carmen let's leave these guys..they don't seem right..off to talk to some bouncers on the street..we got VIP entry to the Spanish pub...so late...back to the unit..and that's when it happened...Carmen started laughing when the cop opened the van, he had confiscated beer from one of the sellers....(there was like 10 cartons of beer) the cop turned around seriously and said ...is there a problem here....I said mm NO...nothing....and he kept looking at Carmen ...then I looked at him and I said nothing going on here...and I said to Carmen ..lets
go...or you will be arrested and she said what for laughing ...I said MMM YEAH, you don't muck around with foreign cops...although they are very fit and really good looking...maybe I can visit Carmen...
Day 4
Sunday was a late morning rise....we did the boring thing of washing..then we decided to go to lunch at Puerto Olympico...we had a nice lunch by the beach.....with a DJ playing music In the background ...we were about to go and see the Olympic stadium...as this was the area where the olympics were held...but it decided to pour down..after such a nice start of the day....in the afternoon we went out had some dinner In this cute little coffee shop and had empanadas....and went to watch a Flamenco show at the Palau de la Musica...a nice old grand theatre...Carmen came out so exhausted....her knees hurt and hands hurt from all the dancing...ok ....Carmen whatever...I know its exhausting watching them dance..but you can't get a sore body, when you're seating down...
Day 5
Early morning rise...it's been the earliest we have gotten up here in Barcelona...and off we went to Costa Brava....(Brave Coast) the name is from the big
winds in winter..the winds are pretty strong and cause major damage...no not carmens winds lol....first stop, a little fisherman's village, typical of the Mediterranean ..Calella de Palafrugell...second stop...Llafranc...this is a gorgeous little beach...Ava Gardner... came to do a movie there and fell in love with it....she also fell for a bullfighter....and brought all her movie friends over too...the Rat pack...and others from Hollywood....Off to a medieval town....called Pals....the only thing left over from the castle is one tower but they built all the houses around the tower, with the same materials and colours to give the town a uniform look....l'Estartit...is for water sports, sailing, scuba diving...etc...but for us it was lunch...then a water trip around an island and see some fish....last but not least the Greek and Roman ruins.....yes they lived side by side in a little town called Empuries...they used to export fish to Rome ...they had saunas, sewerage and water systems, gyms, spas and medical centres...trip over..got back at eight, long trip...food again....but this time No paella or tapas...but yes to beer lol. I know this is crazy and never thought you could say it.... But you can get over eating tapas! Bring me a salad! That goes
for both of us...!!
