Our first full day of exploration was in the town of Segovia, around 1 hours drive from Madrid. Kate, Keith and Mille were great tour guides, and decided to take us up through the mountains to see the snow, as you can see in the pictures. We had lots of fun throwing snow balls at each other and being able to see snow on our first day was magical!

We then headed down the mountain to Segovia to see the amazing El Acueducto (The Roman Aqueduct). An 894m long, 28m high engineering wonder! This was built without mortar, amazing! We then saw our first cathedral (1st of many to come) and Segovia's 13th century fairytale Alcazar. The interior was stunning and there was 360 degree views from the torre de juan II (The tower).

We got our first taste of Spanish churros with chocolat, and then got adventurous with a huge medio dia lunch feast. Lunch is the main meal of the day in spain and its a 3 course feast with vino y cervezas of course! We tried some scrambled eggs and blood sausages and then topped that off with some calamri with squid ink, yum!!
