Back to Santander, to wander around the medieval fair taking place in the centre. A perfect place for dinner, with pastry shops, crepe stands, South American BBQ places, and even kebab/couscous joints.

Nothing beats giant slabs of meat roasting over an open fire, except ...

... eating giant slabs of meat that have been roasted over an open fire. The roasted beef was tough and fatty in places, tender in others. Bad, dry bread. The chimichurri was very runny and not pasty like you'd expect, but tasted great. The accompanying beer was quite bitter, but kept me from gagging on the dry bread. I ended up paying 11.50 euro for my meal - I could've had a sit down meal on Calle Vargas for 10!

A local suggested Plaza Canadio was a great place to have a drink, so I headed over there, obviously not to have a drink as I was by myself, but for some people watching and also for future reference. Indeed, it was hopping, and made me wish the boys were here for a drink! Interest has been expressed in attempting another European trip next summer, so maybe we can hit up all these great tapas bars in Spain then.

Back to Heladeria Capri for some coconut gelato (not creamy enough, but still good, with chunks of coconut), and some pretty blah chocolate truffle gelato.
