Hike where people have died, arena where bulls have died, ancient burial sites and a cathedral where there is a dead explorer When I read through this blog entry I notice that a lot of it is about death in one way or another. That was not intentional. Even though death seems to be a theme I still don't think it is neither depressing nor dark. Well, you can read it and judge for yourself. I... Read Full Entry

There are three of these buriel mounds in total. They are 20 meters or so in diameter and maybe four meters high and there is a tunnel leading into each one of them.

What makes them spectacular, and what also made them earn a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage Site, is their age. It is believed that they were erected 4,000 years ago

The dolmens were erected roughly at the same time as the pyramids in Egypt.

Gorgeous Andalusia
We made the decision not to enter the bullring in Ronda exactly for the reasons you mentioned, but I can see your point too. We live in hope that by the time we visit next, bull fighting and related activities will no longer exist... even though I think it's very unlikely to be legislated against in the south, it's quite likely that it will naturally decline (only older people seem to attend the fights these days). That hiking trail on that narrow ledge is insane, but also looks like a lot of fun! :)

Let us hope you are right
Let's hope you are right in thinking that bull fighting will disappear in a few decades. Thank you for reading our blog. /Ake

Hopefully it will go by the way side. It is also important to understand why it is important to the culture not as entertainment. Tough decisions. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I haven't been to this part of Spain yet but after this I really want to go!

There are much to see there. I spent 5 days there I think and I would have needed at least 10 days more to have time to see all the most important and interesting sites. /Ake
