Carnaval!Carnaval!Carnaval!

These were the lights that were right over the entrance to the main part of the city. Other lights were up and down all of the streets and each street had a different kind of light.
Aaaaaah Cadiz... It's really hard to decide where to start, lets just say that it was definitely a love-hate relationship. When Kaitlin and I arrived on Thursday night, we were ready to just be whisked away into some crazy Carnaval party. Unfortunately that was not the case. We got off the bus around 11, and there was basically no one to be seen. We walked all over Cadiz, the central area isn't too big, and saw just a few people, and were a tad disappointed. We hadn't really had anything planned or researched too much into Cadiz, because we thought that Carnaval would be going on like crazy the entire time. So the next day all we did was lay on the beach. I don't think I have ever had such a relaxing care-free time in my entire life. As relaxing as it was, I was still looking for something interesting to do. Not that I'm complaining about the tan, its just that every other vacation was filled with places to go and famous things to see. But the beach was fun, and I got to see some real authentic hippies. A lot of people were just hanging out on the

beach, mainly sleeping, drinking and eating. That night there were a few more people out and about, but still not what I had pictured at Carnaval. So yet again, the next day was spent on the beach doing basically the exact same thing. But it definitely got a lot more interesting as the day went on. More and more people started to show up in crazy costumes. Groups of friends would all dress exactly the same, and there were some really elaborate costumes out there. There seemed to be a lot of chickens, hippies (the fake kind), pirates, and a lot of men dressed in drag (my personal favorite was a bunch of guys dressed as all of the Disney princesses.) So the night was pretty crazy, people filled the streets, and there were crazy costumes everywhere you looked. There would also be groups of people singing songs, I couldn't understand, but I am pretty sure they were always pretty sarcastic and making fun of people. The next day, the streets were disgusting! It smelt awful and there was trash everywhere! I felt really bad for all of the street cleaners, it looked like it was going to take them

forever. So our bus didn't leave until 9 at night, so we spent another long day on the beach. It was overall a good trip, lots of fun and lots of time spent on the beach, and now I have a lovely tan to show for it😊
