We are Emma Holmbro and Ake Dahllof. We live in Stockholm, Sweden. We have travelled more or less regularly since the mid 1990-ies and it seems like the more we travel the more difficult it is to decide where to go next. The idea to make these wooden grave markers came from a self taught wood carver named Stan Ioan Patras. He created the first grave marker in the 1930-ies and now there are maybe as many as 800 of these unusual tombstones in the cemetery.

What a fantastic blog. It never ceases to amaze me the myriad of ways people on this planet adopt to make a buck. This is a stroke of genius. Talk about cornering the market. I loved the one of the Happy Man...but the tongue in cheek epitaph to his mother in law (with picture) takes the cake!
