After a stressful arrival into Lisbon trying to find a caravan park and our brakes getting very soft we spent a relaxing afternoon before heading into Lisbon the next day. Lisbon was a different city to Porto having lost many of its old buildings in a big earthquake, tidal wave and fire in the 1700s. Here we exhausted ourselves wandering around tiny streets and up steep hills, visiting the Castle and the cute Alfama district. Had a few well-earned cerveja that night before indulging in a night of Fado music, wine and more seafood.
Next day included trips on funiculars and the touristy number 28 tram up the hill to see the impressive Pantheon and get a view of the enormous Vasco Da Gamma bridge, all 17kms of it. Also visited the thieves markets and the National Tile Museum. After this was a visit to Belem (named after Bethlehem) to see the cute little Torre de Belem, Convent de Jerinomo and a trip to Pasties de Belem to buy the obligatory custard tarts.
Our next stop was the historic town of Evora. An interesting village in the hot landscape of central Portugal. Wandered around the sites for

Alfama district, Lisbon the afternoon including the very strange and creepy Bones Chapel where the walls were made from actual human skeletons. Other sites included the ancient Roman ruins, the city walls and the cute yellow houses. Had a wholesome meal at a little restaurant nestled in amongst the back streets, Kirst sampling the local delicacy of minced cod with bread crumbs and coriander.
From here we did a big driving day to get to the Algarve region, finding a campsite at Quateira where we spent the following day doing some odd jobs on the van, washing, and recuperating with an afternoon sojourn on the beach.
Tomorrow we cross another border leaving Portugal behind, what a nice little country it has been to travel.
