This year I decided I wanted to see some different landscape for my annual European trip, so I decided to start in Lisbon. I had read Portugal was a beautiful country, and this was a good opportunity for me to see it first hand. Unfortunately for me, I only had a day to spend, but wanted to just see what I could see.
I was very eager, and when I arrive, I make my way to my hostel. My hostel name was We Love F'n Tourists. And they did. This hostel was very hospitable to me. I couldn't check in yet, so I left my bags there, and off I went on my new adventure.
I wanted to see the ocean, so I make my way to beach side. After a short walk, I arrive at the base of the Atlantic Ocean. I stroll along the coastline for a good piece just to take in the beauty, as well as the fresh air. It was amazing. There was a little park or open area where I was at, so I just hung around there for a little while. I was happy to be here, and just wanted to soak
it all in.
I start to walk up the streets to venture out to see what I could see. I came across several beautiful old buildings and churches. What I also noticed was quite a bit of construction going on. It seemed like the city was being kept up and cleaned up. Anyway, I did venture into one of the old churches just to see if it was similar to others I have visited in different countries. It was very soothing to walk in there, and very peaceful.
I wanted to go up to higher elevations where I could get a good look upon the city as well as the ocean from a different perspective. I make my way up, and all along I am veering back at the beautiful scenery. I notice there are palm trees here, which tells me of the most likely hot or warmer weather conditions.
I made it to what I felt was the highest peak, at least from walking the streets, and just gasped as I overlooked the city. Very beautiful. I spend quite a bit of time up here all along taking photos, and just soaking in the sights. Of
course I had to take selfies!!
Unfortunately I only booked one day in Lisbon, as I had a pretty heavy schedule elsewhere, so after spending most of the day walking around taking in the sights, I retired back to my hostel. As mentioned, the hostel was great, and the staff were very helpful, and they were full of insight for me. I was wishing I had booked more time here, but hopefully I can come back some day. Lisbon definitely is worth the visit, and more time would be appropriate to serve a tourist properly. I was headed to Ireland next, and I had an early flight, so I had to pack it in for the night. Until next time beautiful Lisbon...
