Market
Our flight landed in Lisbon around 6:45 this morning. Once we got through customs and got our luggage we were then met by the owner of the apartment who arranged for a taxi to deliver us to the apartment. A friend of the owner was supposed to have picked us up but she had car trouble and couldn’t After getting settled into the apartment we went out to have lunch which we didn’t have to go far as the restaurant was almost right below our apartment. After lunch we decided it was time to do some really serious shopping so we went to the oldest market in Lisbon which really turned out to be what I would call a flea market. Had fun and enjoyed some good laughs as we wondered through the market. Since we spent all our money at the market it was time to go and find an ATM. You wouldn’t think trying to find an ATM would be a big deal but it definitely was for us as most of the ATM’s were located inside the bank instead of on the outside wall. We did finally find an ATM and replenished what we spent at the flea

market (which of course was nothing). We then ventured down to the area where the ferry comes in and enjoyed watching the boats and barges on the river. From the ferry area we were able to look up the hill and see the Castelo De S Jorge castle so off we go. Didn’t realize how hilly Lisbon is but sure did get a workout today going up and down the hills. The castle was built in the mid-11th century and is situated on the most inaccessible area at the top of the hill. It’s main purpose was to house military troops. There are still eleven towers still remaining and it was fun climbing up the stairs to access the towers to get magnificent views of the city. After touring the castle we decided it was time to head back to the apartment as sure did not want to miss out on happy hour – hahaha!!! We enjoyed dinner back at the same restaurant we had lunch at as we wanted to listen to the Fado music being played there tonight which was interesting but unfortunately didn't understand a single word they were singing. All for today as has been a

Great Pics Jo!
Looks like a beautiful place Jo. I think you made a good decision for this walk. I noticed some ads for feet problems alongside the blog. Hope you're prepared and a hardy person. But I'm also suspecting that you are. Good luck and have a GREAT time.
