Evora
temple made of all human bones Last weekend I went to Portugal! we left bright and early thursday morning from Cadiz and drove to Lisboa. I woke up that morning with a really bad sore throat and had a slight fever the night before, but i decided i would go on the trip anyways...i mean a free trip to portugal, kind of a once in a life time opportunity.
On our way to lisboa we made a pit stop in a little city named Evora. We went to a little temple/room that was like a memorial for the people would had died from an explosion in the city. the whole building/room was built out of human bones. I thought it was a little creepy but it was kind of cool to see too. We only stopped there for a few hours then continued our trip to lisboa. Once we got to lisboa our hotel exceeded my expectations! our room was pretty big and we each got our own beds (4 to a room). We settled in and attempted to take the metro downtown for some Lisboa nightlife...that was a FAIL. but probably good cause i was sick anyways.
Friday morning we woke up to a beautiful treat..
Lisboa
Entrance to a castle in Lisboa real breakfast 😊 we definitely took advantage of the continental breakfast. Everyone packed lunches too with the help of a few napkins. haha thats why happens when we are on a strict budget. We headed to el centro and had free time to do whatever for about 7 hours. All the taxi's in Lisboa are mercedez! it was pretty tight, some were older and some newer but all benzs. I also felt like i was in san fran with all the trolleys, i loved it 😊 I went to a few monuments and a cathedral but my main destination was the castle on top of the hill. The castle was so pretty and there was a man inside playing the guitar...like love songs haha really set the mood. we had a little picnic in one of the towers of the castle and headed down for some shopping. I was starting to feel really sick and feverish, i could not swallow anything not even, it hurt so bad, so i sat in the main plaza for awhile and waited for the bus. Once we got back to the hotel i passed out and stayed in while a lot of people went
Sintra
Another castle in Sintra..my favorite! out, but turns out i didn't miss much..everyone came back earlier and we found out lisboa isn't really safe. day 2 nightlife...fail. lol
Saturday we went to Sintra! we had to hike up a mountain to get there, don't know why since there were buses and we were the only ones walking haha. we had to avoid cars and buses up this windy road. Rita, the program director didn't want me to hike cause i could not breath that morning. in fact she wanted me to go to the hospital and get my tonsils checked out. she scared me into thinking if i didn't go i would have to get my tonsils taken out, so i agreed that if it still hurt when we got back to spain i would go. I ended up hiking with everyone else to the top and there was this beautiful castle! i felt like i was at disneyland. the type of castle was different from the one we went to before. Everyone took a billion pictures outside and finally we made our way back in. we explored then headed back into the little town. I bought a Portuguese blanket! it's not really anything special,

most western point of Europe i just needed a blanket for the cold bus and a souvenir so blanket it was and i love it 😊 plus it says its made in portugal :D On our way back we stopped for 5 minutes to take pictures at the most western point of europe, it was so windy i really just took a few pictures and ran back on the bus (good thing i had my blanket). then we went to this gyser called la boca infierno which was pretty cool! the waves were huge! i will try to add a quick video (if i can figure it out). We got back to Lisboa and this night we decided the hotel bar sounded nice instead of trying to go downtown again! don't get me wrong the night life is wild there are people everywhere but they also don't really like foreigners, and we are spotted from a mile away a group of 20 girls kind of hard to miss... either way we had fun and i'd love to go back
On our way home sunday morning we made a pit stop to belem to visit the monasterio and do a little bit of sight seeing and

in front of la boca infierno then headed home on an 8 hour bus ride 😞 i pretty much slept the whole way there. Luckily we didn't have school the next day because it was a holiday. Dia de Andalucia. i love spain, they make holidays for everything! I rested up those days and now my throat is MIGHT FINE. i feel perfect and thank goodness because Carnaval is coming up (the biggest event in cadiz, world famous) 😊
