The Azores Archipelago is made up of 9 islands. If it was clear you would see the bottom of the caldeira behind us – we weren’t quick enough with taking the photo!

In looking over the landscape you can tell that the island is volcanic in origin as seen by the cone shapes here.

Just a small sampling of the paintings on the wall. SanSouci we know from Ithaca while Titom did a great job of including their circumnavigational route in the iris of the eye on theirs.

We had a nice evening with Pascal and Christa from Titom who we met in Flores and Chuck from Reflections who we met here in Horta.

We find the people in the Azores love their flowers – they even have them places for them designed into the walls.

If you look closely you will see they have a full size bus balanced on top of another container on this ship. It shows how large these ships really are in comparison

Part of the wall of Fort Cruz edges the marina in Horta.

It was a rainy day, but in the evening the sky was still quite beautiful.

There are quite a few remains of the fort standing at the edge of Porto Pim.

The Observatory

The meteorological observatory on the hill in Horta was built in 1901 as they understood the importance of communicating their observations to Europe for forecasting purposes.
