We visited central Norway for a week this summer. The plan was to drive up through Finland and down the coast of Norway. However, car problems forced a change in plans so the long drive will have to wait. Our trip took us from Oslo to Andelsnes by train, then to Geiranger by bus, to Alesund by boat, to Bergen by plane, and through Flam on the way back to Oslo. The fjords were incredible! The cities were nice too with Alesund being our favorite. If you are deciding upon the Bergen area OR farther north to the Alesund/Andelsnes area I would recommend the latter. Less people with the rugged beauty. Also, don't miss the small island of Runde if you go to Alesund!

Unfortunately I don't have many good pictures of the Troll road because we were on a bus going up. However, this is definitely worth seeing. I would recommend doing it in your own car. If you are traveling south, up the road, the terrain after the crest of the road is very nice and worth exploring.
