First we made it up to Harstad, 1600 km north of Oslo. Spent a few days with Nina’s brother Eskil and his family Camilla, Lillian, Sofie and the dog Cosak. Being the middlle of November the sunrise was around 09:00 and the sunset just after 14:00, which means that it is pretty dark for many hours but the colours in the sky is amazing at this time of year, both in sunset/sunrise hours as well as the northern lights when dark. Follow the link to read more about Harstad .
Special food: Blood pancakes! One part beef blood, two parts water and spices. Eaten cold or warm with butter and syrup. They where great Eskil!

While in Narvik we were offered a very nice glass of a very special cognac at Marius and Lene's. It was a special edition from 1988 that has been stored in oak barrels and shipped from the Arctic to Antartica and back. Crossing the equator just like our Linje Akvavit.. 😊 Narvik has quite a few good wrecks in the harbour for diving as well as a fantistic view from the ski slopes - Ski Narvik
General stuff about Narvik

Saltdal is Nina’s home valley it is on 67 degrees north and has about 4700 inhabitants. The communtity centre is Rognan which was recently put on the map again from the great TV show and theater Alt for Rognan ( Link only in norwegian).
Special food: Mormor served us a local dish called “Gammel Sei” or “Salt Sei” - the pollack (Sei) is salted, and gets a red colur because it is not washed and cleaned for blood before it is salted in a barrel that is then filled with water.

Fauske - Spent a very windy night at Linda, Sebastian and Anne Bell - so the best thing we could do was make a very nice local reindeer strew with a nice bottle of wine. The next day the boys where relaxing with playstation while the girls went to town for awhile. 😊

For a change we spent a quiet night in Bodø! Staying in at Evelyn and Kenneth’s place relaxing with red wine and for some, a bit of kaffe karsk. And for those of you that don’t know this drink it is quite simple; it is spirits (usually moonshine) and coffee.
The worlds strongest tidal current (maelstrom), Saltstraumen, is just outside Bodo offers some awsome scuba diving. We will get this done one day!!!
There is a dropzone and a sky diver club there as well, but we did not have time to do any jumping - but it must be fantastic view. Bodø Fallskjerm Klubb
