Queens of the mountain tops
Flexing the muscle as we celebrate the high peak summit that views the amazing valley below. Off and hiking was the second full day of my travels.....and yes....I am jet lagged.....but you can sleep when you are dead.
As Esther drove the car to the spot where we were going to climb down to I took an hour to meditate amongst the rolling mountains that completely surrounded me. I took in the sound of the waterfall that had a sound that at first upon waking I thought sounded like traffic outside my window....but when I got a grip on where I was i realised...silly billy thats a Waterfall.......
Then I heard the birds chirping....one sounded almost exactly like a coo coo clock....and i heard the sound of the sheep bells as they walked the hills in the distance. Esther tells me that in the summer the sheep our set free to graze the grass in the mountains on their own and are gathered again months later. So we met a few on our hike and I absolutely adored them.....Between you and me I think Esther thought I was crazy at how much I talked to the animals. Actually at one point during our descent one of the not so shy ones licked my leg.....i
RayneWaterfall
One of the many waterfalls of Norway....so amazing... have to say...their tongues are very soft. So Cute!
I then proceeded down to the small lake and picked some wild flowers and just drank in the serenity.
It is funny how you can feel so small when surround by such powerful beauty. But then the quote....we are NO LESS THEN THE STARS came into my head and I realised....We all hold this potential within ourself....I choose to explore my power.
Many a waterfall did we cross and came across many incedible viewing points of which we took zillions of snaps. Esther and I flex our muscles as we celebrate our ascent to a high viewing point....before we go down the steepest descent in the climb .....Bear path.....which I managed to wipe out on a few times. Showing my lack of hiking training I am afraid. Esther had nimble pixie feet, I would liken mine more to stomping moose feet!
It was incredible as we barely came across any other travellers....so it was tranquil and seems like we were all alone to take in this splendour......god...listen to me...this norwegian air is making me all soft!
So my ankles were started to cave in by the
Weary...get on the FLÅMSBANA
Up we go to view the mountain side end of the hike and I was wondering if I was going to make it......I did of course......but damn.
ANd I did manage to brush against a lone Poison ivy plant.(I say that because we walked through fields of the stuff and did not get nicked once)..but the good girl guide that esther was....she remedy it with some leaf from some plant that neutralizes the sting. Amazing mother nature grows these two plants almost side by side. Cool eh!
I thought I would see more wild life.....no moose...no brown bear.....just sheep here and there and at the very end I found the two most amazing horses.....they liked me I could tell!
So we made it back to the car and esther took us to FLÅM- The place where the tourist train goes from to take you up the mountains. I was absolutely stuffed....but she was keen...and I know she is trying to make sure I see and do as much as possible. It is adorable really....she is truly a wonderful friend....I am just concerned at times she is trying to do to much....but I get on the train....a little more then weary.....and we ascend. More amazing snaps.....and at
Sirens waterfall
This is where the two sorceress get on the rock and cliff and sing their song one point we stop at this waterfall where all the tourist proceed to get off the train and take their token snap....and then over the loud speaker this song starts and these two ladies....in the distance...with blond wigs and blue dresses start to sing their siren song...(I got it on my still camera so i do not have any pictures of it on the digital) .it is some folklore....that has been hammed up big time...something about this sorceress that sings this song that seduces the men. Between you and me there was no real men worth seducing....but to each their own. heheh. Bloody funny though.
We get back to our Hostel (which is awesome=everything here is so clean) Eat our pasta in pack dinner and fall to sleep quickly......
