Hey everyone, we arent actually in Oslo, but in Gjovik (it wouldnt let me pick that as a location for some reason). Its a really nice place north of Oslo.
Just read that the All Blacks lost again. Just wanted to ask that all the men back home please refrain from beating your wives/girlfriends if possible. I know its a hard time, but its just a game. I had a feeling we'd lose, as I told dad...but damn that sucks. Please think of the poor players who have to go home now and put their feet up for the next 4 months till training for the super 14. Please think of them and their million dollar overseas contracts. Poor guys. Wouldnt be suprised if I saw some up here in the next couple of days. Anything to avoid NZ.
Anywho, Norway is a lovely country. The bus drive to Gjovik was really nice. Basically you had a lake on one side and the autumn trees on the other. Whats not nice are the prices. We figured the price of a bottle of pepsi here is $8 NZ!! that gives you an idea of what its like...it makes London seem dirt cheap in comparision. I imagine the prices are a good way to keep smelly tourists away, this place is like a postcard, hopefully we get some pictures soon that do it justice. We are staying with Abbeys mate Julie and her family. Kristian, Julies husband is a police officer in training - which takes 5 years! And hes working unpaid for a year or so as well. AND it costs him $8 a pepsi! So Ive told him when hes done the training he can come down to NZ and basically run the NZ police force (but then when I thought about it...thats not such a great thing at the moment is it?)
Madison their daughter is gorgeous. A bundle of energy who is learning both Norwegian and English. So shes already smarter than me. And Julie is learning the native language as well which will help heaps as this city is apparently very much a Norwegian speaking city, whereas Oslo is more English. Ive noticed the basic rule is to add Ls Os and Ks to most English words and youll be fine.
Abbey finds it really cold here, which is a nice turn around from the US where I was the one complaining about the heat. That blubbers working a treat now.
Anyways, if I can Ill chuck some photos up in the next couple of days. We are here for another day and a half, then back to London for a Day before our Contiki starts on Wednesday. Should be fun going through Paris in our All Blacks jerseys...
Hang on...thats why we lost! We had to wear silver! someone call TV3!!! The nation is mourning!!!!
Bye
Jon and Abbey

Yes well
At least Stuart is smiling. Its really interesting here...makes you relaise how some people have lost perspective, when the talk is about a nation in mourning blah blah blah...its a bloody game, and we weren't good enough...plain and simple. I think that at the end of the day we got found out becuase of our lack of hard play (and this team hadn;t played together), and the French just wanted it more. The sun didn;t come up here this morning (only cos it was raining....) but it will come up the enxt fine day! With pepsi that price, you would be drinking buorbon straight i guess. It sounds really lovely there (although cold...thats a surprise)...look forward to the photo's! Please wear the All Black jersey in Paris...just to show that we have some pride!! Enjoy the rest of the stay there...look forward to the next update. Dad
