I wasn't sure if i should write this entry, seeing as it was a holiday. But it's still technically travelling, so here we are. I wanted a holiday. I really wanted a holiday. So, after a quick call to Annie to see if she fancied one too, we booked flights to Montenegro. 10 hours later, plus a few hours on the plane, we landed in Dubrovnik. Finding our taxi didn't take as long as i thought it would, although there was a bit of confusion over what my name was. Not me, I wasn't confused. The sign the driver had said Sparrki. We weren't sure if that was supposed to be me. I now have a dogs name. No sarky comments please :D
After a short but enjoyable taxi journey, including a border crossing, we arrived at our destination. Not a bad price really for how far we went. 50euros. We were in a minibus so obviously it would be cheaper if there were more people.
It's a beautiful little town, but there are a lot of steps. If you lived there for a month, you'd get really fit. Our apartment was about half way up the hill, so
we could choose whether we wanted to be lazy on the way to somewhere or on the way back. :D Usually on the way back if i'm honest. We wandered around the town for a few days, visited some ruins, walked along the beach... It was really hot while we were there, so much lazing around in the sun on the balcony was done.
We did go on a couple of boat trips that were good. One was a whirlwind tour of the area, stopping off at the highlights; Churches, beaches, an old fort town, which i'm ashamed to say I've forgotten the name of. It was all very pretty and well worth the trip. I saw a very VERY nice looking boat that convinced me for a minute that i wanted to go into boat design, before I realised that no one would be stupid enough to trust me with the design of something protecting people from a cold and watery death. Oh well, a girl can dream. The other trip was to the blue caves, something we were advised was a must. We saved it until our last day, which, as sods law dictates, was the only
day that it wasn't really hot and sunny. Not bad going really. The blue caves were beautiful. And we jumped straight in. None of that sissy ladder stuff. It was FREEZING!!! I expect that on a hot day, it would have been a nice, refreshing sort of cold. That's what i tell myself. My Cousin wouldn't possibly have been trying to trick me? Both of these trips came with a healthy sample of a liquer. I think it was called Grappa, but i cant remember. Must have been good. :D
We were planning on having a day trip to dubrovnik, But seeing as the only bus there left at 8:30am and the bus stop was about 30-40min walk away, we never got up in time to go. We were there for 10 days, which to be honest, was probably too long. A week would have been enough to do everything and still relax. All in all, it was a nice holiday. A bit quiet, but just what the doctor ordered.
