On our last big excursion during our year in Slovakia, we decided to make a more conventional (at least, ostensibly) sightseeing trip on a guided tour through Italy. The Holy House, allegedly that of Mary and the Holy Family brought back from the Holy Land during the Crusades, is encased in a limestone shrine behind the main altar.

We were able to go inside the Holy House, which contains many important relics. The basement associated with this house is still located inside a church in Nazareth.
