so i consider myself fairly athletic, kind of fit, decent balance...not so much a bike rider though, i don't think i've ridden for maybe 10 years. but hey, there's free bikes in verona! marc practicaly learned to ride before he learned to walk and he's been itching to ride the entire trip. so i get on the bike, yeah, my balance is real shaky, throw in traffic and an unfamiliar city...there's a high likelihood of something disastrous happening. and don't foget about the packs...so marc puts on his pack, then my pack in front and navigates us through the city peeking over my pack. it has to be a bit comical seeing me riding with nothing and then marc ladden down with two huge packs, and yet he still rides in a straighter line than me. so finding the campsite, hey guess what, we picked the one behind the castle at the top of the largest hill in verona! oh how i love single speed steel bikes, my childhood came back in a flood of memories. so we walked the last bit of the hill to the castle, for some odd reason marc couldn't manage the hill with a little extra weight. the campsite was sufficiently beautiful, i've used the tent alot more than i was expecting and it's worked out great, campsites are plentiful and super cheap, combine that with shopping at grocery stores for food and 'free' transportation, and europe is fairly cheap. so then we had dinner in the city, walked around, then the next day we decided to get a little culture and watch la boheme in a roman ampitheater from 222 AD. moderately impressive but the tiny juice box of table wine was a bit more impressive and slightly classier. and my bum hurt from riding the bike, so there's a bit more respect for those guys who do the tour de france 😊

Your trip sounds pretty awesome, but i wasn't officically jealous until this entry. Biking in Italy=AWESOME. If theres any place in the world where really you HAVE to ride a bike, it's Italy.
