Monday Oct 22nd

Left for Venice. 2 hours on a high speed train. Got the water bus route correct
the first time. Although we did take the Grand Canal route 1 which made all of
the stops. Kind of like a Grand Canal tour. Bought a 48 hour pass so we could
sightsee a lot. Wandered around after a late lunch and had some beers and wine
on the rooftop deck of the hotel.

Tuesday Oct 23rd

Hopped on the water bus first to the island of Murano where they have made glass
opjects for centuries. Then on to Burano where they make lace. This turned into a long day with the ride back from Burano and the waits for the bus taking 2 hours.

Wednesday Oct 24th

We leave for Padua sometime this afternoon. We left the exit from Venice open so
we could stay as long as we wanted to. We had time to see the Basilica San Marco
with all of its mosaics. Seems like the entire inside of the church is mosaics
including the floor.
Overall we did get a sense of Venice but another day would have been nice. Especially as the weather was so nice. Sunny and in the 70's all 3 days.
We stopped in Padua long enough to tour the Cappella degli Scrovegni with frescos
done by Giotto in 1303.
Arrived back in Florence at 7.
