Another travel day as we moved from Florence to Venice. Our train ride wasn't so dramatic this time around but Emily did have a small encounter with an intoxicated homeless man wandering around the station.

On the train we sat next to a couple from Burlington who told us that they were originally from Ottawa. They said that they were coming from Rome but were happy to go to Venice because it was soo hot there. For us, the worst heat was in Barcelona and Positano. We would step outside of the hotel and drip sweat. Venice is about 27 degrees but it is cooler because we are right by the water.

When we arrived at the train station in Venice we were told to take a water taxi that would take us to the front of the hotel. The travel agent estimated that it would cost us around 30-40 euros. However, when we got to the dock a man told us it would be 75! Another couple were complaining because they were also told it wouldn't cost them more than 40 euros but he was telling the to pay 80. We decided instead to take the water bus

Outside of the train station
which was only 7 euros per person. The only problem was we had little to no idea where we were going and even when we docked at the right stop it took forever to actually find the hotel.

Not the most eventful of days but we spend the rest of the trip in Venice so I'm sure there will be more to tell.
