Venice
The only city in the World with streets exclusively for pedestrians Kee writing again:
Ciao everyone, if you wondering why it's always mommy n me writing it's because Kris is nonsense at story telling, but she is giving us her two cents worth as we write!! Now for our day in the city built on water...we were excited to leave for Venice...have u ever been to a city that is on water???no??then you should definetly go to Venice!! No cars, no bicycles-only walkways and boats. Before we could leave for our Venice visit, we were a bit scared... now granma and Vilo mom please don't freak when you read this!!! Vincenzo told us that every two weeks or so or whenever it rained, the entire city floods & we have to know how to swim as we could be knee deep in water (and mom can't swim-so we said our goodbyes to her before we could leave, just in case!!!!).
When we reached Venice we could actually see that it was still wet from being flooded a few days before, but lucky for us there was no sign of rain ( but mom said even if it did rain and it did flood, we could put it down as an experience)
ahah!!! If we made it I say!! and this coming from someone who can't swim-really mom!!! The other thing we were warned about was that we could easily get lost as the whole city was built in a maze and lost we did get, but we found this tiny little coffee shop that sold the most delicious fudge and peacan nut cookies.mmm..yummy!!!but of course it cost the earth!! Venice was truly unusual, but very touristy and yes the Nigerians were also here again with the fake Pradas and fake Guccis and when they found out we were SAfrican, they said, 'hey you also from Africa - we brothers yes??' In Venice we also found a Burger King & Krisel had a hamburger, but I was in Italy and I was going to eat pizza even if it was not up to SA standards, but the lady in the shop was so moany and the pizza was so expensive, but nothing could stop me from having my Italian pizza!! We walked so much today that I could not wait to go back to the Foransie's moody house (sorry mom but u said write exactly how we feel) On the way back
we stopped to buy something to cook for dinner and to buy that irritating thing's matric dance after party dress (ssshh..but I was loving the shopping too!!) Mom cooked chicken curry & rice & dinner was such a formal affair at the Foranasies', but they could not eat the spicy food. I personally thought they were just overplaying their roles (But mom and Vincenzo tried so hard to get us to socialize) which so did'nt work out as Federicka was busy with her cellphone underneath the table and Francessa , well she tried a bit but she looked like she would much rather be somewhere else than here with us!! and the mother was trying too hard & looked like she was about to explode any second(she seemed a bit superficial, like she did not really mean everything she was trying to say). Poor Vincenzo - having to live with three PMSing women and he was so nice!!! Anyway tomorrow we leave for Switzerland. I am actually lookig forward to that. Maybe our next hosts would be less moody and make us feel more comfortable, but there's always butterflies in our tummies when we about to meet our next hosts.
water, water everywhere
...and not a drop to drink Arrivederci Vincenza, Arrivederci Foransies, Hello Switzerland!!
Cindy's edit: I know that you girls felt a little uncomfortable at the Foranasies' home, but there's something I have to add here. Vincenzo is truly wonderful and he tried so hard to get his family to enjoy the CS experience and socialize with us and I can so relate to how he felt!! Remember some of the times when we have csers at home and you guys behave in that exact same anti social way and I have to run around trying to bridge the gap?? well sweeties that's what it feels like for those poor travellers, so pleaseeee take a lesson from this and be nice in future..luuurvve you'll anyway😊
