Celebrating a birthday in Venice

This blog has been a long time coming - the two weeks in October which were spent touring around Italy (Venezia/Milano/Firenze) were over-whelming. I had never been across the Atlantic before, and Canada certainly doesn't have medieval cities like Europe. While in Venice, eight of us shared a palazzo, and cooked for ourselves/each other and walked everywhere. For the Patrick's birthday dinner, there were 10 at table, with Margaret as chef and Pam, Marilyn and I as sous-chefs. Shopping for groceries at the Rialto Market, with fresh fish brought in along the Grand Canal, became almost a daily event! I think next time we'll stay for a month!
