Our First Day in Venice

Well we made it to Venice. It feels like a completely different world. We exited the train station and were wowed with the Grand Canal of Venice. Just taking the "bus" puts you on a cruise through history down the Grand Canal. We got off at the Rialto Bridge and wound our way through the maze of streets and canals to our Bed and Breakfast. Next we walked to St. Marks Square which is only about 5 minutes from where we are staying. We checked out St. Mark's Basilica and went to the top of the bell tower (Campanile). Awesome views! We thought we were leaving the shopping behind in Florence, but the stores in Venice have the most amazing glass work! We haven't bought anything yet but the jewelry seems quite reasonably priced and I'm sure some samples will end up going home with us.
