Kellie on the Acadamia Bridge over the Grand Canal
After our flight on the balloon it was jumping straight back into the van and off to Venice.
Arriving in Venice we got a campsite with a view of the water - well we thought that would be 'serene' but with MASSIVE MASSIVE BARGES AND SHIPS going past making noise every 10 mins it didnt turn out that way - Dad you would have loved it! We took the afternoon just to chill out and play a Yatzee tournament (Craig won), as we were still a bit over the whole siteseeing tourism rush from Rome.

The next day we took the ferry across to Venice, and when we arrived, we said to eachother, "this is not going to be as good as we think it will be", and surely enough, it was a let down, A MASSIVE LET DOWN!

Sorry to all those romantics out there that think Venice is the home of casanova and must be romantic with all the gondolas etc - YUUUUUKKKK! We hated Venice. Sorry to be so negative, but it STANK - IT WAS LIKING WALKING AROUND A SEWER. And the people were rude, and there were men everywhere trying to sell gondola

rides (lucky there were not many of our African friends to add to that) and it was just DIRTY, AND STINKY AND REVOLTING.

We gave it a change, we walked to the Academia bridge (famous) - and it was all under construction so you could not even see most of it. So we walked to San Marco Piazza - the famous piazza - WHATEVER. After being to Rome and seeing St Peters Bascillica and Vatican city etc, this was nothing. It was just a cement courtyard with an ugly basillica. AND THERE WERE THOUSANDS OF PIGEONS....and hence PIGEON POO! Gross gross gross. The worst part were all the dumb gross tourists that were buying bags of corn and seed and FEEDING THE PIGEONS - and standing with several on there arms getting photos - I mean how revolting - can they get any more stupid.

So we then got on a ferry and went out to the Murano Island (where the famous Murano glass is made) - and it was just one big glass product shop. There was suppose to be a free glass factory tour, but when we tried to find it we were abused and asked

to get off the property - so who knows. So we went in search of a memento of Venice. We found a little K made out of glass, and a little pair of glass earrings for Kellie. The guy said his sister made all the jewellery and she was there. We then went in search of something nice for the house. We went into a shop that was obviously very exclusive and we found this lovely block of glass that looked like an aquarium, with fishies swimming and little jelly fish inside. It looked really cool. We asked how much - €1000- reduced. Yeah No.

Just a word of warning, when you get off the ferry at Murano there are some stands with people selling cheap vases and glass flowers etc- Kellie has seen all those pieces being sold in casual mall lease stalls in Brisbane - MADE IN CHINA - so dont buy these.

So we ticked that off the list, caught the Ferry back to our campsite, and were ready to GET OUT OF THIS SMELLY HELL HOLE.
